ANAGH COAR PRIMARY SCHOOL

HAPPY - CARING - MOTIVATED - RESPONSIBLE - SUCCESSFUL - CONFIDENT

Mrs Mellon and Miss Saltwell have been busy over the holidays creating a new display in school linked to one of our current school improvement areas. This brilliant display is about how we can have the right mindset to be successful learners and shows the difference between how we might feel if we have a Fixed Mindset or a Growth Mindset. The pictures show the PATHS feeling faces that the children are used to talking about and the speech bubbles give us ideas about how we can help change our feelings about ourselves by having the right mindset. The children will be getting the opportunity to interact with this display next term through discussion with their teachers as they come up against challenges in their learning. There will be an information booklet and poster that can be put up at home being sent home early in the Summer Term so that parents can help support developing a Growth Mindset in their children.

'In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.' Carol Dweck
